Hi all!
I was wondering if there was a problem with mosquitos?
Last time my family and I visited a beach (San Luis Pass), we were almost devoured alive by the little bloodsuckers. They dined as we rushed to unload our vehicle. They even followed us into the beach house. By the time we got done swatting them there were red dots all over the walls. Directly on the beach was not a problem but when we got away from the water, all bets were off, especially at night. I couldn't even sit on the deck at night.
We wanted to look for sea shells at night and that was like an airport beacon announcing our presense. Horrid experience.
The place we are staying has a pool and while we would like to swim at night, I have no tolerence for little flying, biting vampires. |

| The beach generally does not have a problem with mosquitos. Inland it is a problem at times. |

I think Santa Rosa country is pretty good at spraying for mosquitoes. I know they come by our house several times during the warmer season.
I have an allergy to the bites .... get great big welts from them. There are a lot of tricks you can do to keep them away .... one, of course, is OFF bug spray, another would be tucking a dryer sheet in your pocket, or using Avon Skin so Soft oil. Just google mosquito repellent and I'm sure you'll find a ton of suggestions.

Teyla,
We've lived inland about half-way between 2 major waterways going on 4 years. We actually have experienced fewer mosquito problems than we did way up in the Ozarks of AR! Our experience has demonstrated to us that Santa Rosa County has a very good mosquito control program.

Thanks everyone for the info! I will make sure we pack plenty of bug spray or skin so soft.
Thanks again! |
