We Have Arrived...

I have been a "Forum Stalker" for the last 2 months. We booked and paid for our vacation in Mar and then...we all know what happened. Sad

We began waiting and watching the news with great sorrow. Then one day, I found "YOU" and my hopes were re-newed! Ok, so it sounds corny but we debated for over a month about cancelling. We did not want to, as we have been coming to Navarre for the last 3 years. (We = me, my kids, my best friend and her kids - once a year) in addition - we have made several adult only trips! One year - we had 3 trips within 3 months! It was GREAT!!!! Ok, so back to my story...I found this forum and we began to have hope. We decided to hold out...I am so glad we did. Very Happy

We arrived today @ 1pm. It is as beautiful as ever! We have to leave on Wednesday but sooooooooooooooo very glad we did not cancel. I want to thank all of you that have posted honest reports, they helped us to make the right decision. We have already hit Bayou Bob's...Juana's and others are on our list before we leave!!

beachgirl - We are so glad we came, as well! It would have been a mistake to cancel! We are already spreading the word back home! Txt & Email is the mass communicator! Very Happy

David - I was prepared for at least some tarballs and had decided that would not stop us from coming! We have not even seen one! I have yet to find anything negative to dwell on, well, except for the fact that we will have to leave on Wednesday! Sad

If you are out there and still on the fence, dont cancel! We walked on beach yesterday evening...the kids played in the sand. It was great. I hope the image uploades right. The June Grass is here but not bad and the view is beautiful.

We walked on beach again this morning and founds 3 nice shells. Saw some dolphins and fish! Went snorkeling as well, water was clear, lots of shells! Just came in for food and headed back out! AWESOME and WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

While floating in the Gulf today, I met someone who kept her vacation plans because of this web site. I asked her to post her experience once she got back to a computer.

We need to get the word out. The beach is wonderful today. Because the gulf was so calm, I was able to go out to the deeper areas. I scooped the sand on the sea floor, looking for buried tar balls. I did this in several areas. I did not see one tar ball on the beach or in the gulf today.

The june grass is barely there. Not a nuisance. Sting rays were in the deeper waters. The heat index today is 110. If you hide under an umbrella, there is a slight wind that keeps you cool.

A great day for the beach.

Just wanted to say Hello HSV! I am in HSV also (well actually Monrovia). We have been going to Navarre for the past 20+ years and would never go anywhere else on the panhandle. Glad you didn't cancel. We have been 3 x this summer and are headed back for Labor Day. Have a great trip and make sure you go to Cactus Flower Cafe and try the fish tacos! Outstanding! Wink
