Snowbirds Save at Navarre Beach, Florida

Winter Rentals From $1000 Per Month

By Santa Rosa County Tourist Development Council

NAVARRE BEACH, Fla., Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Winter at Navarre Beach, Fla., brings a different kind of visitor.

These are longer-term and are generally called "Snowbirds."

"We have monthly winter rates - at the beach - starting at $1000 , and this includes your utilities," said Kate Wilkes, executive director of the Santa Rosa County Tourist Development Council. "Our area RV parks, cabins and hotels also see an influx of visitors looking to escape the cold and the snow."

Winter visitors often gather in the community rooms at host condominiums for cards, games and potluck dinners. Area libraries, senior centers and attractions see an influx of activity.

A walking/jogging trail located steps from most Navarre Beach accommodations gives visitors a safe place to stay in shape. Golf is available nearby and Santa Rosa County is known as an eco-tourism destination. Navarre Beach is surrounded by miles of undeveloped, sugar-white beaches at a county park and the Gulf Islands National Seashore.

The northern part of the county features the Blackwater River State Forest, one of the most pristine treasures in the United States.

Winter visitors also enjoy the historical features of Downtown Milton which features a traditional courthouse square reminiscent of a period movie set.

Tucked between Pensacola to the west and Fort Walton Beach to the east, Navarre Beach is a perfect jumping off point for day trips to nearby Mississippi casinos and other regional attractions.

"When you come to a place for a month or more you want to be able to explore the area around you," Wilkes said. "One of the popular activities is taking a tour bus for a day trip to the Mississippi Casinos, about two and a half hours away."
