As we enter our fifth year of visiting Navarre Beach each summer, it's a shame to see that there is a turtle shortage at Navarre.
For years, we have seen the tents (or the frames) left on the beach by visiting tourists (ourselves included), but did not know that the turtle population was in jeopardy.
And isn't it nice to know that by simply moving our frames to the berm (as prescribed to us by the local authorities riding 4-wheelers on the beach this week), the turtles can now have a chance at a comeback in the Navarre area.
Sarcasm aside ... we love turtles! We love Navarre Beach! Tent cities, as they have been called, don't keep us from coming back year after year. And, if it was the hot topic among politicians that they may want the locals to believe, the enforcement would have been there long ago.
Let's focus on avoiding this oil (prayers) and keeping visitors in the hotels, condos, restaurants and stores.
