More about wind turbines and noise

This link is a NY Times article about a utility company paying residents to not complain about wind turbine noise. A forever waiver of complaining gets one $5,000. How many nights of sleep would that come to? Much much irritation and anxiety? Or, lost vacation rentals? http://www.nytimes.com/2010/08...

Oil spill damages?

If the worse happens to the beaches, and even if only the threat causes losses, let's remember that BP has lots of highly competent attorneys dedicated to minimizing its payouts. See below.

The focus so far has been wildlife destruction and the impacts on sport and commercial fishing. These are certainly serious impacts. If the oil comes ashore - which right now - seems likely, then the cancellations will start for vacation rentals, along with all the secondary economic consequences. A...

Water towers are in many communities. They don't kill birds, or make noise, or fall apart in high winds.

Wind turbines are not placed in well populated residential communities, nor recreational areas, but they will disintegrate in high winds.

wind turbines and property values

Consider what the mere sight of wind turbines will have on property values on Navarre Beach. How many people will find wind turbines a positive reason to purchase a condo or other NB property? When my wife and were researching beach property several years ago, we would have immediately dropped Navar...

We and Gulf Power are constructing a meterological tower in September that will have two small anemometers to measure the quantity and quality of wind. We don't know if any p...

Beach erosion, or a natural cycle?

What is the state of our beach? Is it eroding? Or, is it in a natural cycle of waxing and waning?

As of today, there is less than 40 feet of beach in front of Navarre Towers. Hopefully this is temporary.

After being on Navarre Beach for 5+ years, I am coming to believe that our County Commissioners don't have a clue in fostering a family-friendly beach that would attract tourists. Giant windmills on the Beach? How many tourists are going to be repelled by the very sight of these monsters on the beac...

James Morgan's 7/30/1988 letter on the Pass & beach eros

Below is the text of a 1988 letter written by James P. Morgan, geologist, sent to the West Florida Regional Planning Council. While his letter is dated in some respects, his major points merit serious consideration. "JAMES P. MORGAN GEOLOGIST 1206 ARIOLA DRIVE PENSACOLA BEACH, FL 32561 July 30, 1988...

Navarre Pass?

There seems to be enthusiasm again for the Navarre Pass, but I haven't seen any discussion of it in this forum. Is it just the figment of someone's imagination? Or, is there some real momentum this time? I am certainly not an expert on beach geology, but I read the 1988 letter by James P. Morgan, Ph...

Gotta love the phrase attributed above to Mr. Festa, "...to see that this project is brought to fruition for the people of Santa Rosa County ...."

Port Navarre is a fruit to to savored by us ordinary citizens? Mercy!
