Navarre Beach Fire Rescue Chief Mike Howard is urging locals and tourists to pay attention to safety flags. Currently Gulf waters are closed to the public.

"Stay out of the water when there are red or double red flags flying. This is for your safety as well as ours. Even the strongest swimmers can get into trouble," Howard said.

Was this yesterday? I see yellow flag is up today, so something is wrong or did they change it once the rain stopped?

I see they came along and changed the flags to double RED flags. The water is indeed now closed.

Just now watched the live cam (which I believe is not rotating) and saw several people playing in the water. I wish I could say I was surprised. I expect if we continue watching the live cam we will see a Rescue before the night is over. Why don't people pay attention to the flags?!?! SMH

I guess they're either uninformed and uneducated to the dangers or they think it doesn't apply to them. :( :( :( :( :(

Once again, Jesus spoke to the people and said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life." John 8:12 BSB
