Obviously this would have to be rezoned as commercial. A hard sell with single dwellings to the west and south.

6.04.20  Emergency housing needs.
(1) Mobile homes, travel trailers or recreational vehicles may be utilized for temporary housing by individuals who have been displaced from their residences in Santa Rosa County due to damage from Hurricane Ivan, in any zoning district where single family dwellings are permitted.

The use of: (a) mobile homes in zoning districts where such use is prohibited prior to the adoption of this ordinance, or (b) recreational vehicles or travel trailers as permanent residences; shall cease upon repair or reconstruction of the individual's residence or by September 30, 2006, whichever date is first.

http://www.myfloridaeh.com/community/mobile/index.html

The objective is accomplished through routine inspections of these parks and camps ensuring the residents' risks for disease from an environmental origin are minimized. The inspections focus on the following: 1) proper sewage disposal to minimize the risk of diseases such as hepatitis, salmonella, and shigella; 2), safe drinking water to minimize the risks of diseases such as giardia and cryptosporidium; 3) safe solid waste collection and disposal to minimize rat and roach infestations, as well as reservoirs for mosquitoes and associated diseases such as West Nile Virus, Dengue, St. Louis and Eastern Equine Encephalitis. Also of concern is a safe and disease free swimming pool, where applicable.

No septic tanks are allowed on Navarre Beach.

Am opposed to it...hate it, believe the Commissioners to be self serving idiots but just like our country, if we allow a minority to dictate to the majority, Navarre Beach will be lost, just as our country is dangerously close to being gone. Everyone should rise up, write, call, go to meetings, protest and let those morons at the County level know that we will not stand for their agenda.

We as citizens allowed our State and Federal employees to run wild and look where they got us. If you allow the County officials to go unchecked, they will do the very same thing. Not only will they pad the northern parts of the country with beach/tourism money but many of them as individuals will pad their own pockets with tainted money.

Kenny, Navarrian, GONEFISHING, EBB, whom can those of us who do not live there call or write to to express our opinions. I believe I have seen a roster listing before with names, addresses, titles, etc. Can you direct me to that thread or offer it once again. I will do what I can to express my feelings.

In my opinion the best Commissioner of the (5) is Lane Lynchard. Commissioner Lane lives in Gulf Breeze and owns a Law Firm in Navarre adjacent to west of the Publix’s Shopping Center. I do not agree with some of Lane’s opinions, but most of his votes are directed to what is best for Navarre Beach and the Navarre Mainland.

What’s the Best Solution Going Forward?

INCORPORATE THE NAVARRE BEACH AREA INCLUDING THE NAVARRE BEACH MAINLAND

Let’s Do It and get Santa Rosa County off our back!

30 years ago we as a famliy used to come from Slidell to the campground that used to be there on the sound side, and loved it, mainly because of prices of rental units, lucky me I have now bought a townhouse in Navarre, so it would be hardly fair for me to be against a campground today.

Rexy,

Understandably you have some very good memories from camping there. However, having a campground on the mainland such as the park that exists now, east of the bridge, is one thing. To have a campground on Navarre Beach is an entirely different issue.

I am not opposed to the County allowing people to set up camp with the minimal amenities that exist now in some of the stops along the beach road. Basically an overhang, possibly bbq pits and every now and then bathrooms. However, erecting facilities, plumbing, cabins, etc......well, that is not wanted and needed by most everyone that adores Navarre. The island itself does NOT need anything else cluttering the island. They have already started the helicopter rides and that forsaken water slide. What next? When that is accepted then other things start going up and before long, we look back and boom, we have the likes of PB or Destin.

Well....he responded so at least he did that. As for his, "concern for the beach"....as is the case with all politicians, words are shallow and mean absolutely nothing most all the time.

Let us see action!!! That speaks much louder than hot air!

I find Lynchard and Cole to both have concern for what happens on the beach.

If I told you what I thought of Melvin, Kenny would be forced to throw me off the forum.

Melvin is the one who, on his own, ok'd the horrific water slide and is the one pushing for anything and everything destructive to the beauty of the beach, He cares less and has said so. He has been the root of many recent problems and obsticles being experienced by the beach. He was not favored by most of the residents of Navarre and Navarre Beach in his election, knows it, and is apparently out for revenge. He is that type of person, referring to the people in Navarre as the "Navarre Mafia" and making public statements as to "there are enough people in Milton to vote for me". He wants to bleed Navarre for the sake of the north of the county. Even though our commisioner, he lives in Milton.

To give you an idea of Melvin, he recently booted off one of his appointees to the planning board because she voted with 6 others (7 to 1 vote) to allow a variance to which he, part of a minority, was apposed. The only vote agreeing (the 1 vote) with Melvin was his other appointee, reckon he realized Melvin''s vengance and lost his backbone, uh? Seems Melvin wants puppets to do his will rather than have minds of thier own. Mind you, the vote was 7 to 1 and supported by the County Attorney.

Everyone, PLEASE, voice your opinion of the slide and other destructive plans before the Commissioners. There are 2 meetings Monday, one a workshp, having to do with proposed vendors, RV parks and such. E them now or go to the meetings, PLEASE!

The VIEW last summer:

The 1st thing seen as you cross the bridge, and certainly ruins the beauty we are used to seeing from the pier or beach. They say they are ordering a white and blue one that will blend better with the beach, ya think so??

Some commisioners asked that they consider moving further east into the Park, Melvin says "No, he wants them where they were". He also wants some huge bubble ride there as well, bigger and guadier! Do ya think he loves the beach as we do??

Even small children have made comments of how they think it ruins the beach they love. They can not speak to the commisioners as well as you can, please speak for them, yell at the Commission, PLEASE! Let them know WHY you love Navarre and come here rather than to the Coney Island atmosphere of other beaches, PLEASE!

You will NOT be forced, or thrown off the NBL Forum for expressing what you think about Commissioner Melvin. Primarily, because I know that whatever you say is always based upon facts. The person that would most likely be forced off or banned from the NBL Form for expressing their views about Commissioner Melvin would be me. If I expressed all of my discontent concerning Commissioner Melvin, you Forum Members would have to tie me up and throw me off the end of the Navarre Beach Fishing Pier. “Navarre Beach is the best kept secret in Florida”. Commissioner Melvin is the worst thing that has ever happened to Navarre Beach and it’s certainly no secret. I put his destructive actions against “We the People” of the Navarre Beach Area right up there with Hurricane Ivan and Hurricane Dennis.

REMEMBER TO VOTE AGAINST THE RE-ELECTION OF COMMISSIONER MELVIN

Kenny, I appreciate your vote of confidence but the words I might use to describe Melvin, if unleashed, would not be fit for the ears of the ladies and might well be some that would freak out the gentlemen. Certainly would not want the youngsters reading them.

My biggest hope is that everyone will recognize Melvin for what he is. This man is a boil on the back side of those of us that love Navarre Beach.

Some of the bitter things he has directed toward others is mind blowing, yet he hides behind a facade of doing the right thing, usually what he and a small minority of others want because of petty past differences. He has no quams about using his office for personal reasons of vengance which is a total violation of the Commision's Code of Ethics and he does not seem to care if he drags the other Commisioners down with him in his quest of that vengance.

I sent this to each of the 5 commissioners. Even though I don't live there yet, I felt compelled to at least throw my $.02 in.

Commissioner <name>,

I’m writing this note to you as an out-of-towner who is currently home-shopping in Navarre beach. It just came to my attention that the Santa Rosa County Commission is considering allowing an RV park to be built on the island; a move that requires changing the existing zoning. It’s my understanding that this property is currently zoned residential medium density and would need to be rezoned to mixed-use development in order to accommodate this RV park and that this type of zoning is not permitted on that part of the island. Add to this the fact that this property abuts residential property immediately to the west and south, and it would appear to the average thinking person that this is an easy, slam-dunk decision for the commissioners.

So tell me, please, why this proposal is even being given a second glance? And what exactly is the purpose of zoning and planning if it can all be changed on a whim? I’m not being rhetorical, here; I’d really like to hear your case and justification for why the commission is spending even a moment on entertaining this proposal.

I may not be one of your constituents – yet – so you have no obligation to me. But as a prospective resident who is looking in the immediate area of the property in question I sure would love to hear an explanation.

I’m very glad this came to my attention before I purchased a home in Navarre Beach. As a Navarre Press subscriber (via mail) I will be following this story closely.

Thank you for your time.
Sleep late, drive fast and don't take anything seriously...
