UPDATE: Navarre Beach Life Webcams

Navarre Beach Zoom Webcam
There is a problem in adding streaming video for the Zoom Cam that is located on the 15th floor of the Belle Mer. A good friend of mine has allowed the Zoom Cam to be mounted on the outside of his condo for the past 7 years. The problem is that his AT&T DSL Internet is only 6 Mbps Download and 756 Kbps Upload. The modem in his condo uploads at 756 Kbps the webcam’s images. But, when my friend tries to access his wireless computer or laptop his internet speed drops to an unacceptable speed for him even though the webcam was working just fine on the streaming video mode, which refreshes about every second or less.

Therefore, the decision was made last night to cancel the streaming video and go back to the default refresh of every 10 seconds.

SOLUTION: Last year local AT&T no longer accepted DSL speeds higher than 6 Mbps Download and 756 Kbps Upload. AT&T U-verse might be a solution. I use it as a backup to my Mediacom 50 Mbps Download and 25 Mbps Upload. However, my AT&T U-verse for my location only supports 6 Mbps Download and 756 Kbps Upload. I’m hoping that Mediacom can provide 50 Mbps Download and 25 Mbps Upload at my friend’s condo. I have already offered to pay my friend’s Mediacom Internet monthly bill. I will be contacting Mediacom today about their being able to offer the internet bandwidth that we need. Are you still there?

Navarre Beach Skyline Webcam
There is a still a problem with the Skyline Webcam installation from last Saturday that is stuck on SAT JUL 27 2013 19:33:48. My IT Person was on the phone last night with my hosting service for about 3 hours where it seems that this may be a hosting problem. The decision was made to re-install and use a custom script to load the images. Hopefully, the Skyline Webcam will be back in operation today. Are you still there?

I know a little bit about Internet Bandwidth as the sole owner of my telecommunications company ECT Telecom (www.ecttelecom.com). I still hold the world record for the most high speed internet circuits sold in a given year. In 2001 I sold over 700 internet circuits that included T1, E1, DS3, OC3, OC12 and OC48. I will find a viable solution regarding adequate bandwidth for the Zoom Webcam and the Skyline Webcam so that they perform better. Are you still there?

Well, I am - but then I run 300 server computers spread over two computer rooms, so I also know this stuff.

We are "lucky" (according to AT&T) to be able to get 1.5Mb/sec download speeds at our house. They don't seem to understand any kind of cable infrastructure more recent that the 1960's. That is coming from someone who spent several years working at the British Telecom research labs too, so I know what can be done if they really tried and cared about the customer.

Did someone mention fiber to the premises? Pah!

Uverse is available two streets away from our home ... TWO STREETS AWAY!

I still can't get the beach cam working ... all I see is what appears to be a camera lens. I've followed all the instructions. Maybe there's something special I have to do with Windows 8 to make it work? I don't have a prob with any other web cam.

Does anyone else have Windows 8 ... and is the web cam working for you?

Windows/8 .... I have it in a Virtual Machine at work. Not sure it will work now as it was the beta version from last year and might have timed out.

Do you have the Quick time plug in for your browser? (which browser by the way)... You might like to try a different browser and see if it works? Remember Quick Time is from Apple and Windows is from Microsoft. Each corporation hates (sorry, "has a few issues with") products from the other, so very often NOT using Microsoft Internet Explorer works well...

Now this is very weird .... I can get it if I go to the very first page .... the Navarre Beach web cams ... it works there, but not when I'm logged into the forum pages.

Yes, bj, I have Quick time. I'm fully equipped for what I have to do, but it just doesn't want to work for me. That's okay, if I can see it from that other location, that's fine.

I have been monitoring the skyline cam for the past 40 minutes and it works for me. I have someone checking out the zoom cam on why it became stuck about 4 hours ago.

Skyline cam is working for me now on both Firefox and IE. It kept giving me an old image when I was on the Firefox browser until I cleaned out the history cache and cookies. It is flickering, though. It's only on the bottom part of the image.

Skyline cam:

I get the first image with no message under the picture and then it just sits, with the busy timer thing looping, but it never displays another (updated) image (Chrome Browser). Internet Explorer only ever displays the top half of an image.

Beach/zoom cam:

Stuck at 12:41pm today in all browsers (Firefox, Chrome, IE10)...

I have cleared out all cookies, cache, history...

The skyline cam is still working for me on IE and is refreshing about every 7 to 8 seconds, which the cam manufacturer tech support recommends. The skyline cam by Stardot is a still image cam. The zoom cam is a video cam by Axis.

The person that I pay to assist me has not responded to my text messages and cell voice mail messages over the past 5 hours concerning the skyline cam. I'm not going to bother him anymore today and let him resolve the issue.

If these issues continue over the next few days I am prepared to shut the 2 cams down. This is costing me too much time and money.
