You tried on an Omega and Cartier!!! :!:   :?: :?:

If had Rolex-Omega-Cartier kind of money for a watch - I'd rather look at Brietling (my Air Force and private pilot background).

Have to say your west coast is pretty. But can't afford it - taxes and COL are way too high for a retired military careerist - even a 30-year-service, relatively higher ranking, one.

I talked on the phone this afternoon to my AD on the east coast. She said she would call the district sales representative at the Rolex service/distribution center in Long Island City, New York on Monday. She will tell me the availability of the Everose Gold Day-Date 40 with the SunDust Stripe Motif Dial and the platinum Day-Date 40 with with the Ice Blue Diagonal Motif Dial. These are the two models I will make a decision on in the next few weeks.

Traditional Jewelers didn't have the Everose gold model in stock, but they will email me a photo and the weight in grams from their Denver, Colorado store. Here are some photos of my gold Submariners weight compared to the white gold Day-Date 40, platinum Day-Date 40, and the yellow gold Day-Date 40.

My AD on the east coast call me today saying the platinum model is not available until 2016. The Rose gold model is available and in stock at the service/distribution center in Long Island City, NY. Today my family took a trip over to the ADs in Laguna Beach and Newport Beach and they like the yellow gold model with the black dial, they do not like the platinum model. My final decision will be in the next two weeks when my family visits the AD at South Coast Plaza and takes a look at the Rose gold model. I think most likely I will buy the Rolex Everose gold Day-Date 40 with the Sundust, stripe, Motif dial.

Robbery at Ben Bridge Jewelers

A manhunt continued Monday for three masked robbers who smashed display cases at Tyler Mall in Riverside, California, prompting panic among holiday shoppers who thought they heard gunfire, according to police.

Three masked men went into a Ben Bridge jewelry store inside the mall at 6:30 p.m. Sunday and "used hammers and axes to smash jewelry cases and steal jewelry," police said.

I don't think the Rolex platinum model is very popular. I was talking to a Rolex salesman at the Mirage in Las Vegas and he said they didn't sell a platinum Rolex since the crash of the stock market in 2008.

Traditional Jewelers in Denver, Colorado emailed me some photos of their Rolex Day-Date 40 in rose gold and they also weighted the watch for me. It came to 210.9 grams, around the same weight as my gold Submariner-Date. The model they have is the one with the diamond dial, not the one I like. I like the one with the Sundust, stripe motif dial.

I don't care what my family says, I'm buying the one I want. I'm still thinking of the platinum model.

I called Fredric H Rubel Jewelers on the phone today and they said they have one Rolex Day-Date 40 in stock in Rose Gold. I will go over Saturday to the Mission Viejo Mall and take a look at it.
