Enough about these top 25 teams...

A little bit further down the order of things (and for those of us without multi-million dollar recruiting programs), my uni team (North Texas - last season's Heart Of Dallas Bowl winners), coming off a defeat against University of Texas (UT) Longhorns last week (yes, they are a top 25 team), almost had a shut out against SMU.

UNT won it - almost a shut out too (SMU scored on the last play of the game)!!!

Considering the score last year (Bulldogs lost to us 28-13).... Hmmm...

Did I mention the score on Saturday against SMU?

SMU only scored at all, because our Defense thought the game was over, but there was one more second to go at the end of the fourth...

As good as a shut out!!!!

We'll see at the end of the game on Thursday.

lvthebch,

I thought that this was Alabama Crimson Tide Country on this forum. Anyway, the more college football fans claiming this distinction the better. Good luck to both schools on Thursday. By the way the 3rd week game of the week topic has already been created on the forum.

Oh yes, I think it will be a very long night for us! I do not have high hopes for this year and was very happy with the win last night! :D

Well, just this morning, June Jones resigned as the Head Football Coach at SMU. He was a good coach and apparently has some personal issues he says he must address.

SMU since the Pony Express days has literally fallen off the map. Frankly, I believe they should drop to 1AA but that will never happen. This move will no doubt drop the Mustangs even further into college football oblivion. They were not competitive before his resignation and now, it will be worse.

The talk here is that there is something else going on with him, but he's not saying...

Quite possibly the stress of having to WIN in major college football has taken its toll. Not a life I would want and I could eat, drink and sleep college football.

I hope Coach Jones is physically ok. The way things happen today and with the society we live in, it is not going to surprise me one bit to see some type of unethical behavior that has almost surfaced. Let's darn sure hope he is not, "coming out of the closet" or something stupid like that. Ya never know these days.

I do not believe for one second it is because he wants something better for the team and he feels he is not taking them where they need to go. That would be quitting.
