A couple of great football games yesterday. Unfortunately my Vikings didn't win, but they sure put on a good fight. I didn't think the Saints had good-sportsmanship on their minds while they were trying to maim Brett. "If you can't beat them, kill them?"

Congrats to the Saints, however I'll be cheering for the Colts in the Super Bowl. (We northerners have to stick together.)

Hey, SouthernBreeze: as the old saying goes, I don't have a dog in this hunt but since you're a Saints fan, I know you'll enjoy this e-mail I received from a friend:

8)
Peyton Manning Goes To Heaven

Peyton Manning, after living a full life, died and went to heaven. When he got to heaven, God was showing him around. They came to a modest little house with a faded Colts flag in the window. "This house is yours for eternity, Peyton," said God. "This is very special; not everyone gets a house up here."

Peyton felt very special indeed and walked up to his house. On his way up to the porch, he noticed another house just around the corner. It was a 3 story mansion with a black and gold sidewalk, a 50 ft. tall flag pole with an enormous Saints logo flag and in every window a New Orleans Saints towel.

Peyton looked at God and said, "God I'm not trying to be ungrateful, but I have a question. I was an all-pro QB, I hold many NFL records and I even went to the Hall of Fame." God said, "So what's your point Peyton?" "Well why does Drew Brees get a better house than me?" God chuckled and said, "Peyton, that's not Drew's house, it's Mine!

MIAMI GARDENS, FLA.–Who Dat? Who Dey? Whooo Haaaaa!

They had long ago captured the hearts and imaginations of a vast legion of followers. Well, here on Sunday the New Orleans Saints also captured the Super Bowl.

Fairytales really do have happy endings. Dreams come true and underdogs come through.

The Saints marched in on a massive wave of emotional support – mostly everybody wanted to be in on this number – and marched out with a 31-17 victory over the Indianapolis Colts.

It is the first championship in a franchise history that dates back to 1967 and includes decades of miserable performances. Since Hurricane Katrina devastated their community in 2005, however, the Saints and their evolving competence have embodied its we-shall-overcome spirit. Home to the annual Mardi Gras celebrations, a party city nonpareil, New Orleans might never be the same – in a very good way.

They fell behind 10-0 early. But what’s new about comebacks for this bunch.

Drew Brees and Crew on this night outshone Peyton Manning and Co. Manning, in fact, threw a key late interception.

They had their own dreams, too, did the Colts. They had the goal of establishing their place in NFL and Super Bowl history, a claim upon supremacy, dynasty, one of the best ever.

The Colts were the betting man's favourites. The Saints were Everyman's team.

The Saints went ahead 24-17 on a Jeremy Shockey touchdown in the fourth quarter, that featured a two-point conversion attempt that was ruled incomplete by field officials but was upheld under video review.

As if that was the voodoo they needed, the Saints then picked off a Manning pass, cornerback Tracy Porter stepped in front of Reggie Wayne and ran back the interception 74 yards to give New Orleans its decisive 31-17 advantage.
