On a day when in a (so far) quiet storm season for Navarre, I am reminded by this article on the NFW Daily News web site of the need for Federal help when it comes to rebuilding after major storm devastate the Gulf Coast. We'd do well to make sure that whoever we vote for has the interests of Navarre residents in mind for AFTER the storm:

There is a collection of photos and articles about Ivan on the PNJ web site too as well as a book and DVD (I have both, purchased several years ago), but the NFW D,N, page is from April this year..

Ya, memories - and not the best. We road Ivan out at home, but are a couple miles inland and at 30-ft ASL.
No house damage, but lost fences, tress, etc. Clean up, but not near as much others. The 6 days w/o power was a challenge. Got out our Colman camp stove and also had the Weber Charcoal Grill. Did a lot of neighborhood meals, folks brought what they had and we ate outside.
Thank goodness that Publix had ice within a couple of days, and neighbor got back from evac to Dothan with TWO generators that he shared. Kept one frig and one freezer from spoiling.
Cheers, Pete
