Unless you plan on eating some of these tar balls, I would not worry too much about becoming sick from them.

Eat contaminated seafood or have an open wound that is exposed to seawater.

16 Deaths last year just from eating contaminated seafood:

Just in Florida 2010:

Florida 2010 = Vibrio vulnificus infections

Vibrio vulnificus infections typically manifest as septicemia in persons who have chronic liver disease, chronic alcoholism, or are immuno-compromised. V. vulnificus infections can lead to severe outcomes including death.

V. vulnificus infections are commonly associated with the consumption of raw oysters, although the bacteria can also infect wounds exposed to coastal or marine waters or raw seafood juices. Of the vibriosis cases
reported in 2010, 32 were determined to be V. vulnificus. Of the 32 reported V. vulnificus cases, 19 were wound infections (one death) and eight were attributed to oyster consumption (four deaths). Exposure was
unknown in five of the cases (four deaths).

It is well known that if you have certain diseases or immune disorders that you should not eat raw seafood, it should always be cooked. And yes, all waters have bacteria in it and you should not subject open wounds to such. Common sense. But has nothing to do with tar balls. The first link posted pretty much states all of this.

Hope you can steer clear of all the tar balls I collected in 30 minutes time. That was also part of the first post I made.

What authority did you report your discovery to and what was their response? Have any clean up crews been sent?

NRC, National Response Committee.

Patrick from the Coast Guard said they were most likely MC252 and is having them tested.

Clean up crews are being reactivated for Navarre Beach.

Thank God we're not having the problem Gulf Shores is having. They are dredging Little Lagoon and 100s of tar balls are now on their beach.

Key Word - DREDGING

Is that dredging currently taking place or was that from the routine dredging back in December?

There have been tar balls since time began. As for the seafood...been tested time and time again and found to be safe. I would be far more concerned about the lead in our pipes from which we drink.

COME ON DOWN TO NAVARRE BEACH......IT HAS NEVER BEEN MORE BEAUTIFUL!! 8)

HOME2007.....if I didn't know better, it sounds like you don't want people coming to Navarre Beach :? Maybe give'em a reason not to come??

You ALWAYS ruin a good learning post Pkid. Just trying to make people aware.

Do your thing, and as usual attack the messenger. Close minded that you are. I never said "don't come to Navarre Beach."

And as for tar balls, you may be correct that they've always washed ashore, but I've never seen truckload after truckload removed as in the last two years.

Of course, you don't live here.

You probably don't even know what really goes on in the Gulf. We just had another major spill 50 miles from DWH, Taylor platform has been leaking for 7 years and finally a lawsuit is against them.

Let them start oil drilling in Florida, hell ya; you're from Texas. And The Restore Act - I suppose you know about that too !

Just go back in your box.

'2007, Really? Is this the way a mature adult handles a little honest questioning? It didn't sound like P'kid attacked you personally just because he questioned your motives. Remember when you point a finger, you have 4 pointing right back at yourself!

This post from you has the ring of something not quite right. You need to check some other sources besides the wacko "environmentalists" who are trying to take down this Nation. So, I guess you'll attack me now because I'm expressing an opinion which is somewhat different from yours.

Blessings,
A.G.

Follow every post I've made, and see who makes the most hateful responses.

And Angel, I guess you're following suite - taking sides I see.

So much for open-minded knowledge. I guess you all don't care if they start drilling in Florida.

My final hoorah and I'm done (and guess where these photos were taken):

Carry on - business as usual.

Home2007,

My money says people will side with me on this one. Go back and look at all your posts on this topic since the spill. You are not wanting to educate. You are wanting to alienate. You don't want people coming to Navarre Beach, period! That is your purpose for posting on this thread. They are not nor have they carted off truck loads of tar balls, at least not in the last 18 months. By the way, I live on the Gulf, have my whole life. While you are at it, lay off AG, possibly one of the nicest most sincere people on the planet. You sound like an angry, lonely, bitter woman!

By the way HOME....where did I attack you and where are my, "hateful" responses?
