I have always loved Navarre Beach for the last 25 years. I have wanted to retire there but the last 2 to 3 elections have given me pause. With Gillium almost winning with his radical Socialist agenda, I ask myself -- "Why would I choose to live in that type of environment?" Northeasterners have been moving to Florida to get away from their insanely high prices and TAXES. Then when they get to Florida, they try to recreate the same political environment of Socialist agendas and resulting high taxes.

Since 2011, I have owned my future retirement home in Gulf Shores. The current city and county officials will not put a stop to uncontrolled growth. The traffic congestion is not limited to the summer season; it is year around. This congestion has lead me to look again at NB with its protection from development due to the Gulf Islands National Seashore Act. But to paraphrase the Story of Eden, the Liberal Floridian Eve has bitten and tasted of the forbidden fruit of Socialism. My hope is that Liberal Floridians come to their senses and don't pave paradise.

Spot on.
Wonder if Texas will eventually move that way --- a lot of Californians (and the Hispanic) moving there - but keep their socialist leanings.

Maybe Wyoming or North Dakota - but I'm done with snow. So where in the world?

Perhaps the Republic of Gilead?

As a Native Texan, living in Texas, I would consider it a relief to have CONSERVATIVE transplants to help offset the very liberal transplants moving here to escape high state taxes and out-of-control state government intrusion into private lives. It's a mystery to me why they can't see the obvious connection between the two and change their mindsets accordingly ... but no, doesn't seem to work that way. Most are completely devoid of understanding the problem and its cause. Totally mind boggling!

You will do well to stay in Alabama, Econ. Just some gentle advice.

I don't think life decisions should be based on politics. You are in a conservative state. Why buy trouble if you think Florida is liberal?

The thread makes little sense given that the entire area is very conservative and they control the local governments all the way up to the state legislature and Governorship even now and have for a very long time. Its really a conservative thing to promote unlimited growth and gut environmental restrictions. It makes no sense why you are not blaming Republicans.

Oh, I have a thought or two. Any surprises there??

I said this earlier and have posted on Facebook, the fact that Texas, Florida and Georgia came so dangerously close and Florida and Georgia are ripe for fraud at this very moment, with the radical and I mean radical liberal agenda that these loonies were throwing out, is damn frightening. We have millions of "minorities", Gen Z'er's and Millennial's that are voting based still on skin color and a smile, without so much as one minute's worth of background checking and what Socialist's policies mean for them. I posted a Youtube video showing these ignorant fools and not a single legitimate answer among them. It is like they are zombies?????

We are a half generation, in my opinion, if not even in 2020 of having these lunatic fringe people voting to change America to Canada or worse. For instance, this quack in Florida wants 40+% tax, no guns, no borders, full blown Obamacare...same as ol' Beto, who by the way will be the fringe's nominee to go against Trump. The lunatic in Georgia is even worse. She truly is crazy. O'Rourke said he is for open borders. What the hell people, you cannot have open borders. What are you thinking? No country on planet earth has open borders. Do you know what that would do to our healthcare and educational systems???

No, I think the young brainless people of America (for the most part as there are still many grounded smart young folks) will be the downfall of the once great God inspired America.

Not sure if any of you live in Florida or are aware of Florida history. For years, the controlling party of Florida was Democrats. Only with the change of the evangelicals in the late 80s and early 90s did we begin to see the Republicans take seats. It also had to do with many people changing from Democrat to Republican because of social issues - abortion, etc.

So presently the liberal environment appears to mainly be South Florida and some areas near north Florida/Tallahassee area.

Does that bring this back on track?

Marko, you should continue to post. Ignore Econ.
