I will be posting this on this thread as well as the Main thread to hopefully provide legitimate and factual insight into this pathogen. Again, PLEASE continue doing life and do not fall for the media hysteria.....

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19),
caused by Severe Acute Respiratory
Syndrome Coronavirus 2
(SARS-CoV-2), formerly
called nCoV-19

General Information
A novel Coronavirus, (novel meaning a new strain of a virus that has not been previously
identified in humans), currently designated SARS-CoV-2, was first identified in China. It causes
a disease called Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) which has caused severe illness and death in
China and has spread to several other countries.
COVID-19 was identified in December 2019 in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China. Most
people infected with SARS-CoV-2 developed severe acute respiratory illness (pneumonia) with
symptoms of fever, cough, and shortness of breath, related to the disease called COVID-19.
There have been several reported deaths. Investigators are trying to determine the source of
SARS-CoV-2, and there is a link to a large wholesale fish and live animal market in Wuhan City.
The virus has moved to other countries via travelers. There have been several reported cases
around the world of COVID-19, including several in North America.
Prior to this, Coronaviruses have been linked to two major outbreaks: Severe Acute Respiratory
Syndrome (SARS) and Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV).

Transmission
The SARS-CoV-2 appears to spread from close, person-to-person contact.
This virus may also spread by touching contaminated objects or surfaces and then touching
your mouth, nose, or eyes.

p g. 2
Symptoms
Current symptoms reported for patients with COVID-19 have included mild to severe respiratory
illness. Symptoms may include:
 Fever
 Cough
 Shortness of breath
At this time, it seems that symptoms of COVID-19 may appear in as few as 2 days or as long as
14 days after exposure to SARS-CoV-2. To date, cases have been linked with recent travel to
Wuhan China, or direct contact with those who have recently traveled there.

Prevention
There is currently no vaccine to prevent COVID-19.
The best methods of prevention include:
 Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not
available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer
 Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
 Avoid close contact with people who are sick
 Stay home when you are sick
 Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash
 Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

Prevention in Healthcare
The following are general recommendations for preventing the transmission of infectious agents
in healthcare settings (https://www.cdc.gov/infectioncontrol/gu ... index.html):
a. Providing masks and hand hygiene products at all ports of entry to health systems
(hospitals, physician offices, clinics)
b. Place surgical masks on symptomatic patients immediately (clinically tolerable).
c. Rapid triage symptomatic patients in designated areas (negative pressure if
available)
d. Immediate placement in isolation precautions (standard, contact, airborne) and use
eye protection, e.g. goggles, or a face shield, e.g. droplet precautions
e. Strict adherence to hand hygiene guidelines by healthcare workers
f. Conduct proper environmental hygiene with use of EPA-registered disinfectants that
have microbiocidal (i.e., killing) activity against the pathogens most likely to
contaminate the patient-care environment (in this case enveloped viruses). Use in
accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.

Refer to the CDC website at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/ for additional information.

Dr. Oz's medical tips:

Dr. Oz's coronavirus survival guide

By Talia Kaplan

Published March 09, 2020
Fox News

With nearly 500 cases reported across the United States, according to information gathered by Fox News, and at least 21 deaths related to the COVID-19 coronavirus, Dr. Mehmet Oz, host of the “Dr. Oz Show,” on Monday offered up his tips on how to protect yourself against the virus.

Speaking on “Fox & Friends” on Monday, Dr. Oz provided this Coronavirus survival guide:

*Wash your hands with soap and water for twenty seconds and use hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol.

*Disinfect surfaces by using disinfectant sprays instead of wipes, which can spread germs from one surface to another. It is advised to let the surface remain wet for three minutes prior to drying.

*Get at least seven hours of sleep a night.

*Exercise regularly, aiming for 30 minutes every other day.

*Improve your air quality by using a humidifier because viruses dislike humid air.

*When you are on an airplane, sit next to the window: “It’s better for you because that germ zone is that little limited area,” which includes the row before and after you, he noted. “The air that comes in from outside is actually pretty clean."

*Meditate because that can support your immune system.

*He discouraged handshakes, saying handshaking transfers 10 times more germs than fist-bumping, but also discouraged fist-bumping. “A fist bump passes one-tenth the germs as a firm handshake,” Dr. Oz said on Monday. He also encouraged people to “embrace the power of a good head nod.”

*Eliminate face touching.

*It is encouraged to have a two-week supply of essential items, including freezer-friendly food items and non-perishable foods, medications and household supplies, including toilet paper, soap and detergent.

*Eat foods and take vitamins that support the immune system. Eating leafy greens and fruits high in vitamins like citruses, blackberries, and kiwi provide your body with essential vitamins and minerals.

*Get the flu shot to avoid confusing seasonal flu with COVID-19.

*If you are sick, take 80 milligrams of zinc daily, 250 milligrams of vitamin C twice daily, 250 milligrams of beta-glucan daily and take elderberry syrup or lozenges four times a day for five days

Dr. Oz said that these tips are good things to follow in general, even when there is no virus outbreak.

He went on to say that he doesn't believe self-quarantines are effective.

"Do you know what works? Social distancing," he told the "Fox & Friends" hosts on Monday. "Me sitting at arm's length from you. Not shaking hands like when I walked out here. These moves actually work.”

He added, “I think we’re causing more harm to each other with the anxiety of the virus than the actual virus.”

I am good with the move to the political thread. Enough factual information was given on the main forum to hopefully ease people's minds. This is absolutely political to a large degree though and the plain in your face facts are right there.

Amen! Yep, that's why I chose not to move the entire thread, just lock it in that location. Your expert info on this is greatly appreciated!!! I suggest every prayer warrior add this to their prayer list if they haven't already done so.

I just had a very liberal friend say something contrary on Facebook concerning my statements of much of this, a great deal of this whole thing being political, at least according to the media and the liberal crazy left. I responded and you may not agree with much I state (perhaps nothing) but use the brain and common sense God gave you.....

Sorry for the length but truth is the truth......for those that might question as to whether what is happening with the hysteria, panic, stock market plunges, etc., concerning Covid-19 and whether it is in large part or any way political, you might want to consider the following. One, the panic being driven by the media and the left in no way parallels what the experts are saying and what we factually know today. Two, where was/is the panic for Influenza, far more deadly and has killed close to 10 times more people in America alone than Covid-19 has globally. Where was the panic during the Ebola crisis? Four, per the left and media, President Trump and his administration have done nothing to help this "crisis." In fact, many on the left in some way blame President Trump for Covid-19. Asinine! He and this Admin is no more responsible for this than Obama was for Ebola. Five, they have tried since day one of this virus and since day one of his administration to bring him down and remove him and this is a continued effort based on the spread of a virus they would have you believe is the Andromeda Strain. They have tried every single play in the book to bring him down. Six, as Jackie says above this is the motto by the media and the left "don't let a serious crisis go to waste." Use it now and use it often!!!

The facts of this virus to date do not support what the media is trying to convey nor should it have the impact on our market system as it is doing. There is a reason why this is happening. The virus is not the reason. The virus is not responsible. The marketing of and by whom is where the problem lies.

And by the way and I tried to hold off as long as I could in looking at my Fidelity retirement accts but I did peak just a little while ago, this irrational BS by the media and left has cost me and my family several thousand dollars in less than 3 weeks. Yeah, it will more than likely rebound as it always does and many have lost even more, some less but the bottom line is, if you are monitoring the DOW, every utterance of Covid-19 and the BS that they are dishing out about it, is costing Americans greatly.

This is highly political. Maybe if the economy tanks we can then blame it on Trump and get us a victory. That is their thinking. That is their latest play from the demoncratic playbook.

I might add if you have not already seen this but Austin has a yearly massive concert called SXSW (South by Southwest). Hundreds of thousands attend this multi day concert event. Yeah, they cancelled this year and cost Austin and the State...$335 MILLION . Had a friend this morning go to the Atlanta Airport, the busiest airport on the planet and he walked straight to security without 1 second of delay. In Atlanta. That is unheard of. Why because of this irrational reaction. Stop it!

BTW..... the oil market is tanking. Why, because people are not traveling and therefore not using fuel. What will that do to the oil jobs across the state and country. People have lost their ever loving minds and the media and the left is just throwing jet fuel on the fire. Just moronic!

The oil market is tanking because the Saudis and Russians have started a price war. Yes, they were falling already due to recession fears and global fears about the novel coronavirus, but they really tanked today along with the market because of the Russians and Saudis.

A chaplain friend of ours shared the link to this article with us today. This doctor has a wonderful perspective:

https://www.insidesources.com/coronavir ... us-itself/

Abdu Sharkawy

March 6 at 2:45 AM ·

I'm a doctor and an Infectious Diseases Specialist. I've been at this for more than 20 years seeing sick patients on a daily basis. I have worked in inner city hospitals and in the poorest slums of Africa. HIV-AIDS, Hepatitis,TB, SARS, Measles, Shingles, Whooping cough, Diphtheria...there is little I haven't been exposed to in my profession. And with notable exception of SARS, very little has left me feeling vulnerable, overwhelmed or downright scared.

I am not scared of Covid-19. I am concerned about the implications of a novel infectious agent that has spread the world over and continues to find new footholds in different soil. I am rightly concerned for the welfare of those who are elderly, in frail health or disenfranchised who stand to suffer mostly, and disproportionately, at the hands of this new scourge. But I am not scared of Covid-19.

What I am scared about is the loss of reason and wave of fear that has induced the masses of society into a spellbinding spiral of panic, stockpiling obscene quantities of anything that could fill a bomb shelter adequately in a post-apocalyptic world. I am scared of the N95 masks that are stolen from hospitals and urgent care clinics where they are actually needed for front line healthcare providers and instead are being donned in airports, malls, and coffee lounges, perpetuating even more fear and suspicion of others. I am scared that our hospitals will be overwhelmed with anyone who thinks they " probably don't have it but may as well get checked out no matter what because you just never know..." and those with heart failure, emphysema, pneumonia and strokes will pay the price for overfilled ER waiting rooms with only so many doctors and nurses to assess.

I am scared that travel restrictions will become so far reaching that weddings will be canceled, graduations missed and family reunions will not materialize. And well, even that big party called the Olympic Games...that could be kyboshed too. Can you even
imagine?

I'm scared those same epidemic fears will limit trade, harm partnerships in multiple sectors, business and otherwise and ultimately culminate in a global recession.

But mostly, I'm scared about what message we are telling our kids when faced with a threat. Instead of reason, rationality, openmindedness and altruism, we are telling them to panic, be fearful, suspicious, reactionary and self-interested.

Covid-19 is nowhere near over. It will be coming to a city, a hospital, a friend, even a family member near you at some point. Expect it. Stop waiting to be surprised further. The fact is the virus itself will not likely do much harm when it arrives. But our own behaviors and "fight for yourself above all else" attitude could prove disastrous.

I implore you all. Temper fear with reason, panic with patience and uncertainty with education. We have an opportunity to learn a great deal about health hygiene and limiting the spread of innumerable transmissible diseases in our society. Let's meet this challenge together in the best spirit of compassion for others, patience, and above all, an unfailing effort to seek truth, facts and knowledge as opposed to conjecture, speculation and catastrophizing.

Facts not fear. Clean hands. Open hearts.
Our children will thank us for it.

Absolutely AG! I read a devotional this morning around the topic of "worry." The Bible and Christ have much to say about the detriment of fear and worry. It said.....'Faith and Fear cannot occupy the same space." We have millions and millions upon millions who are not showing their faith and showing a whole lot of irrational fear. Very sad for them.

Based on the statistics of this virus, based on the # of people who have contracted it, based on the length of sickness and most certainly based on the death rate thus far and especially compared to far more deadly viruses of the past, it does NOT warrant the panic and hysteria that is occurring. I absolutely know beyond a shadow of a doubt that this is being politically driven by the media and it is shameful.

The Coronavirus is simply a CURSE that God has allowed to be inflicted against the immorality of America and the World. PERIOD!

I predict a supernatural healing today that starts with the proclamation of President Trump designating today as the National Day of Prayer.
