That makes sense of course regarding the weather. I could have sworn I saw them working yesterday (guess not) during TROPICAL STORM COLIN and was surprised. I was thinking these guys are hardcore! Therefore, I was confused when I didn't see them today. Thanks for the update.

UPDATE

The dredge hopper RN Weeks is now back at Navarre Beach and is currently pumping sand onto the beach. The BE Linholm will be back tonight ready to go as well. Tropical Storm Colin has moved on up into the southeastern U.S. The new Renourishment Project held up really well throughout the Storm. I give the Project an A+.

Thanks for the update. That's good news for sure.

I thought it might be helpful for some to read this update from Santa Rosa County. They explain when the BE Lindholm and TN Weeks suspended dredging operations and provide interesting info from the County Engineer Roger Blaylock. In my opinion the county does a good job with updates.

Per Roger Blaylock (Santa Rosa County Engineer)

One dredge is in shipyard for hydraulic seal repairs and should be back operating this weekend. The current estimate is for the Contractor to complete dredging operations around June 20th and to completely demobilize all dredging equipment prior to July 4. Dune planting will be done in mid-July.

MY LAST UPDATE

I just received a text message on my mobile from Jimmy Sellers the head engineer for the Renourishment Project. Jimmy said that the dredging of sand for Navarre Beach should be completed today.

I will be going down to western end of the beach shortly to photograph this monumental day of the completion of the Navarre Beach Renourishment Project.

Photo by Kenny Wilder ~ My photo from yesterday was shot at the very end of Navarre Beach. The appearance of a peninsula is an illusion - its the very western end of the completed Renourishment. The foreground is the eastern boundary of the Gulf Islands National Seashore.

Hurray!

I'm guessing that the Navarre Beach re-nourishment will, over time, also benefit the National Seashore to the west. The east to west long shore current will be moving sand from Navarre Beach to the west.
Cheers, Pete
