Commissioner Goodin:

We wanted to let you know that after discussions we had last week with the FDEP staff they agreed to send a Department survey party to Navarre and perform a post-storm survey of the beach project. The FDEP survey party already should be on-site today and finish up by tomorrow. [Roger, you definitely do not need to have your folks do any measurements – this will take care of it!] We will have the data from them some time next week. They will survey the entire project area, but will place an emphasis on the western end with very closely spaced profiles there. This will allow us to get a very good idea of the beach and dune damage in that area and lead to the preliminary design of some repair options for further FDEP discussion about what permits might be needed. The survey is all at Department expense, which is a very good thing; but, so far we don’t have any additional information on the possibility for cost-sharing in the repair work itself – we will keep you posted!
