Florida First District Court of Appeal to Hold Oral Arguments in Milton, Florida
The Florida First District Court of Appeal will hold Oral Argument proceedings in Milton on September 25, beginning at 9 a.m. These appellate court proceedings will be held in the Board Room at the Santa Rosa County Administrative Center. The four Oral Arguments scheduled will be conducted by a panel of three Appellate Judges consisting of Judge Nikki Ann Clark as the panel chief and Judge Lori S. Rowe and Judge Ronald V. Swanson as the other panel members. Judge Clark was appointed to the First District Court of Appeal in 2009 after having served as a trial judge in Leon County for over 16 years. Judge Rowe, who attended high school in Niceville, Florida, was also appointed in 2009 after a number of years working in the Executive Office of the Governor and in the Attorney General’s Office. A former military judge, Judge Swanson was appointed to the court in 2011 after serving over 10 years as a trial judge in the 1st Judicial Circuit, including Santa Rosa County.
While the First District Court of Appeal has held oral arguments in Santa Rosa County on six previous occasions, these will be the first oral argument proceedings to be held in Santa Rosa County in the past 37 years. The last oral arguments were conducted at the Santa Rosa County Courthouse in 1975.
The upcoming oral arguments scheduled for September 25 are open to the general public. Prompt arrival before 9 a.m. is encouraged for seating purposes before court is officially opened. The four cases being heard are civil cases with two arising out of Escambia County, one out of Okaloosa County, and one out of Bay County.
